September, 2012 – As the days get shorter, your car’s lights become even more important. Now’s the time to make sure your brake lights and turn signals are in good shape and that your headlights are properly aimed. If they’re not properly positioned, they can cut your visibility and even blind other drivers.
While the Valley doesn’t see a variety of fall foliage, your car provides quite the color spectrum. Reds, oranges and yellow are found in various fluids that need to be checked this time of year. Clean engine oil is a clear, golden color while antifreeze can be blue or green. Fresh transmission fluid is reddish in color while brake fluid is yellowish.
Virginia Auto Service owner Matt Allen can walk you through the car care colors of fall, including:
- How and why to read dipsticks
- Which fluid could signal big trouble if it’s low
- Which fluid is okay to mix with water
- Which fluid has no affect your car’s performance
