When it comes to attracting and converting new customers, small businesses can get more bang for their marketing buck when they tie their promotions and campaigns to things potential customers are already thinking about. Whether it is an established holiday, a regional event, or even an unusual observance, capitalizing on what people are already interested in can open the door to a wealth of creative marketing ideas. Here are some interesting ways you can market your business in June.
National Camping Month – Tie into things people need while they are camping. Provide a camping menu and shopping list. Offer a discount at a popular campground with purchase. Give discounts on spa services after people come home from a week outdoors.
National Smile Month – Everyone has a smile and there are many ways to incorporate this into your marketing, even if you aren’t a dentist. Host a best smile contest on Facebook. Partner with a local dentist to provide a discount on teeth whitening with purchase. Have customers complete the sentence “__________ always makes me smile.”, post them on your social media sites and around your shop, and then pick a winner in a drawing at the end of the month.
National Sun Safety Week (June 4-9) – Help raise awareness by giving away sunscreen samples. Write an article for the local paper about how your business helps people be sun safe. Partner with a dermatologist to offer discounts, free screenings, or a giveaway.
Banana Split Days (June 8-9) – Offer customers a banana split or a coupon for one with purchase. Partner with an ice cream parlor to break the record in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest banana split.
Public Service Day (June 23) – Encourage customers to commit to participating in a community service project that day and offer entries into a drawing for all those who commit and participate. Partner with a community action group to organize public service projects that day.
